2. Cruising Into Adulthood: Discover the Best Wheels to Empower Mid 20s Women

Any slightly used, 3–5 year old, well maintained front or all wheel drive car that strikes your fancy and is within your budget should be just fine, as long as you budget for a spare set of wheels with good snow tires to mount up in the winter. I’m sure many people will suggest a Subaru, which would be a good choice, but really any front or AWD car with good snow tires will be fine, unless you live where the snow gets really deep, in which case you should be looking at something with extra ground clearance and AWD, to avoid getting high centered in deep drifts. If I was young, I would be looking at even older, less expensive cars, and would be willing to do a bit more repairs and maintenance. This would allow me to save more of your $25K for other things such as investing to save for the down payment on a home. But I’m just thrifty that way, and homes are much better long term investments than cars.
