The Pretty-Boy Buzz Cut
We saw a lot of guys trade in trendy haircuts for buzz-cuts in 2017, putting even more emphasis on their faces and clothes. Truth be told, there’s really no better way put an A+ wardrobe—or jawline—on display than with a shaved head.
The Heartthrob Bob
With the barbershop haircut obsession starting to wane, we’ve seen a lot of guys embracing longer hair. Layered, mid-length cuts are prime for running your hands through your hair like a rom-com hero and eliminate man-bun temptation in the process.

The Technicolor Crop
Nothing gives a wardrobe filled with T-shirts style and attitude like a Manic Panic buzz-cut. From blue and pink to neon orange, we’ve seen every color in the rainbow this year.
The Flowbee Cut
2017 was the year guys decided that perfectly groomed hair was maybe a little too much work. Those who didn’t go induction-cut short or Kurt-Cobain long just kind of hacked away at it until the part was gone.
The Power Afro
Natural hair worn large and in charge not only looks damn cool, and nods to the ’70s trend in menswear, it also celebrates blackness in a powerful and timely way. If you’ve got it, flaunt it.
The Drunk Caesar
Hairstyles with bangs continue to make a resurgence, little by little. One of the ways we saw the trend take shape this year was with short Caesar-style haircuts, worn messy or with beards to soften the look.
The Ginger Cure
Guys with dirty blonde hair turned up the volume on their color this year, going red instead. While some of these dye jobs were admittedly for acting roles, we’re feeling this move as an alternative to bleach blonde.

TEXTURED CROP HAIRCUT
The crop has been a haircut that’s been bouncing around now for over a year, but was much more popular amongst barbers than the general public.
We expect to see the crop be a bigger haircut in summer 2018 with more men taking the leap for something slightly different. The important part about the crop is getting textured added through, especially for those with thick, straight hair. Decide whether you want a blunt fringe (cut straight across) or something more choppy and textured.
Pre style with texture dust and then to finish use a matte finish product like the Regal Gentleman Matte Clay for the ultimate crop hairstyle!

BUZZ CUT
Perhaps the suprise reemergence of 2018 is the buzz cut!
The slight difference with the 2018 buzz cut is it’s less likely to be a traditional one with the same grade all over. The 2018 buzz cut will see more men going buzzed on top with a grade between a 2-5 and then adding a short fade / skin fade on the back & sides to add some variation to the cut.
The buzz cut is perfect for those of you who want to have a few weeks without needing to worry about styling your hair!
Expect to see a lot of cuts in between the buzz and crop too, e.g. caesar cuts and crew cuts.

SHORT TEXTURED QUIFF HAIRCUT
David Beckham switched his long locks for a shorter textured quiff haircut earlier in the year and many men have followed suit.
It’s the perfect summer in between haircut for men who don’t want to go too short, but who also don’t want too much styling to do in the morning. Just like the crop this haircut is all about texture being added through the top to give you that messy, unstructured look. Ask your barber to add texture and they will likely either do this through point cutting or texturising scissors.
The short textured quiff is all about blow drying when you do decide to style it. Pre style with a salt spray and then to finish use a matte finish product like the Regal Gentleman Matte Clay or paste.

LONG TEXTURED QUIFF HAIRCUT
Pretty much the same as the short textured quiff haircut just longer.
The long textured quiff will be slightly different in that it will still require some styling in the morning, but for those of you who do have longer hair and don’t fancy anything too short then this could be the one for you!
Use the same styling process as the short textured quiff but finish with some hairspray to give you added hold. Blow drying is going to be vital for this hairstyle to give you real volume through the quiff, so learn how to use your hair dryer properly!

CLASSIC SHORT BACK & SIDES HAIRCUT
A great haircut for those of you that work in an office and can’t go too harsh. The classic short back & sides is one which will never go out of fashion and we’ve seen it pop up recently in Dunkirk with Harry Styles rocking it (see our guide to getting the hairstyle here).
This would have likely been styled with a heavy grease or oil based product back when it was orginally popular in the 30s-40s but in 2018 it’s once again about keeping the haircut looking natural, so use a matte product to finish like a clay or paste.
If you want to switch it up slightly then you can also add a low fade or taper around the back & sides to give it a nice modern look.

NATURAL SIDE PARTING HAIRCUT
The classic side parting redefined slightly.
The natural side parting incorporates the classic slicked parting and brings it in line with the other more natural, textured, matte cuts that we’re seeing today. It’s the perfect smart haircut for summer. The last thing you want in summer is a slicked heavy haircut that drips oil when you get it wet and it’s also less effort as it doesn’t have to be as perfect as if it was slicked.
Great for guys who want a smart look, but still want to keep things natural.
Use a medium-strong hold matte paste to finish.
