In this article, we delve into the irresistible allure of an extraordinary breed of automobiles that redefine our conventional notions of opulence, inviting us to bask in the embrace of understated indulgence.
When it comes to luxury cars, most of them stand out from the crowd in their own unique way. After all, most luxury cars are meant to be cars that stand their ground and create a presence like no other. However, some are more subtle and discrete as not everybody wants to be seen by everyone else as they travel in their luxury car.
Some prefer more understated means of travel, as to them, not being bothered or causing unnecessary attention is a major part of luxury. Here are the understated luxury cars that are perfect for flying under the radar.
10Audi S8
The Audi S8 is a very discrete luxury sedan, which is why it’s used as a getaway car in famous films such as The Transporter series or Taken. The standard A8, on which the S8 is based on, is one of the best luxury cars of 2020. The S8 has the same engine as the new Audi RS6 so it is very fast. The 4.0 Biturbo V8 with a 58-volt battery means it pushes out 563hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
The 0-60 time is 3.8 seconds and flat out it will reach a limited top speed of 155 mph. Not bad for such a discrete car. It carries a lot of technology inside as well, such as two large screens for the climate and infotainment as well as top-class interior quality.
9Range Rover SV Autobiography
The Range Rover is so common these days that nobody will notice it regardless of what model it is. Hence why the SV Autobiography is a perfect luxury SUV that will just blend in with every other car. It is the king of the road by a long shot as it is a very luxurious car that can handle any off-road surface. The SV Autobiography is the top model that costs upwards of $200,000.
It is powered by a supercharged 5-liter V8 with 557hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Inside it is like a private jet, but on the outside, apart from the exhaust tips and the wheels, it is no different from any other Range Rover.
8Genesis G90
The Genesis G90 is a large luxury sedan made by Hyundai’s luxury division, Genesis. It is a car that comes with top levels of luxury but also top levels of discreteness. Not too many people know Genesis and the car itself looks very modern and big but it still just looks like a normal sedan.
There are many things most do not know about the G90 but with its V6 and V8 engine options, it’s pretty quick. It is a classy car with exceptional build quality, making it an elegant choice for those who want to stay a bit more low-key.
7Kia K900
The K900 is a luxury car made by Kia, which isn’t really a luxury brand. This is instantly a plus point, as who will take much notice of a Kia in traffic? It is a full-size luxury car that has received great reviews. Inside there is a lot of real wood, high-quality leather, an analog clock, and a great sound system. This car isn’t a compromise whatsoever compared to its European and Japanese rivals. In fact, it actually beats some of them in terms of luxury.
The K900 has V6 and V8 engine options and is also rear-wheel-drive. It doesn’t have any wow-factor design aesthetics which keeps this car under the radar. The K900 is a Korean car we would love to own.
6Lexus LS500h
Since its beginning, Lexus has mostly made luxury cars that don’t really stand out too much. The LS is a key example of this with the latest 500h model being very discrete. It is a very nice sedan with the famous Lexus build quality and customer service. Under the hood of the LS500h is a 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor that pushes out 354hp. Inside it has a very unique interior with facelift models having an all-new 12.3-inch touch display.
It is based mainly on the LC500h, which was one of the best Japanese cars from the last decade. Being a hybrid, the LC500h is also pretty good on gas. It doesn’t attract too much attention either.
5Lincoln Continental
The Lincoln Continental is a great and stylish luxury car that doesn’t really stand out too much. It is a nice car inside and out and the build quality is excellent too. The Continental doesn’t show off too much as it just looks like an ordinary sedan.
Under the hood is a 300hp, 335hp, or 400hp V6 ranging from a 2.7 EcoBoost to a 3.7 naturally aspirated version. The Continental received good reviews and is far better than its predecessor the MKS. Sadly, it has now been discontinued.
4Cadillac CT6 V
The CT6 V is a great luxury sedan with a poke of performance from its 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 pushing out 550hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. It is an S63 AMG rival but it is a whole lot more discrete as it has no cosmetical differences whatsoever to the standard CT6, apart from the grille.
The CT6 V is classy and a great-looking car but it does not attract too much attention as most people will assume it’s just another Cadillac sedan.
3Volvo S90
The Volvo S90 is a very safe and luxurious car from Volvo. Inside it has an awesome 9-inch touchscreen that controls most of the car features. The S90 is a car that many won’t really notice, because exterior-wise, it’s a bit bland. This is great news then if you want luxury but not attention.
It is one of the best European luxury sedans right now. The Volvo S90 is the Swedish approach to luxury and is a great alternative to its German rivals. It is very minimalist which is what keeps this car cool and classy.
2Toyota Avalon
Here is probably the most unassuming luxury car ever. Toyota sedans are known to sell well into the millions of units, so they are absolutely everywhere you go. The Avalon looks like a normal Toyota sedan apart from its rather aggressive front end. It is a very unassuming car, which means those who buy it can have their luxury without getting any attention whatsoever.
It is a reliable car like most Toyotas are and at a base MSRP of $35,875 it is also decently priced too. It may not have a prestige badge but it can certainly keep up with other more prestigious luxury cars in terms of ride quality, comfort, and space.
1DS DS9
The DS9 is a new French luxury sedan by DS, a luxury division of Citroën. It is a very unassuming car and because DS isn’t really that well known at all as a solo brand, it will easily pass through traffic without a single stare. It is a very executive stylish car and inside it is a masterpiece. The DS9 carries a lot of character that will attract gearheads, however, everyone else won’t really notice it.
It is powered by a 1.6 4-cylinder and an 80kW electric motor. It replaces the Citroën DS5 which was a hatchback-like luxury car.

Its interior can be dressed in colorful two-tone schemes paired with real metal and wood trim to add another layer of sophistication. For those in search of the most exclusive Continental, Lincoln has released the special Coach Door Edition, which brings back the car’s iconic suicide doors. However, that model was limited to 80 units and is now sold out.

Even with its new grille and reshaped headlights and taillights, the Acura RLX is still relatively conservative-looking. Regardless of whether you opt for the standard version or the hybrid, the RLX will be subtly stylish even in the brightest of exterior colors.
Kia K900
With less than 1,000 Kia K900 luxury sedans sold last year, K900 owners belong to a pretty exclusive club—and their cars are a bargain for those in search of something luxurious yet unassuming. The second-generation model, which now comes standard with all-wheel drive, a 365-hp twin-turbo V-6, and a well-appointed interior, is a credible alternative to second-tier full-size luxury sedans like the Lexus LS.
Cadillac CT6
Cadillac‘s flagship CT6 recently got a refresh, but even with angular looks, it’s easy to mistake it for something else. The similarities to the smaller ATS and CTS, both of which are being discontinued, will make onlookers think that it’s one of the CT6’s smaller stablemates. If you want power to contrast your car’s sedate looks, there’s the twin-turbocharged, 550-hp CT6-V, which should make for a fun full-size luxury rocket.
Buick Enclave Avenir
Sitting atop the Buick Enclave lineup is the Avenir model that features unique design cues like a special grille with chrome wings, unique alloy wheels, chrome window surrounds, higher-quality leather upholstery, two-tone interior themes, and wood-look accents. There are also a number of extra features like continuously controlled dampers for improved ride comfort.
Kia Cadenza
The Kia Cadenza is a classic large sedan, emphasizing ride quality above all else. Like many new-generation Kia models, its exterior is attractively restrained. In the SXL trim, the Cadenza becomes a proper luxury vehicle with a cabin upholstered in Nappa leather and other high-quality materials.
Genesis G80
Formerly known as the Hyundai Genesis, the Genesis G80 remains a solid midsize luxury sedan that offers a comfortable ride and a spacious, well-appointed interior all for less than its chief rivals. Time has been kind to the G80’s exterior design; it’s tastefully conservative, attractive, but far from plain even among its newer competitors.
Ram 1500 Limited
Yes, there is such a thing as a luxurious pickup truck, and the most obvious example is the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. Get inside, and you’ll find an interior swathed in leather and materials that will make some models wearing more desirable badges blush. For maximum eye candy, FCA’s UConnect 4 interface comes with a massive 12.0-inch touchscreen that dominates the dash.
