Use The Heat method

Heat causes elastic shoes to expand, just like frozen water does. I have used this method a couple of times when I don’t have time to freeze my shoes overnight. It works wonders!

Things you need:

  • A pair  of thick socks
  • Hairdryer

Method:

This method is simple and can loosen up your plastic shoes in a jiffy. You need to first wear a pair of thick cotton or woolen socks. If you don’t have thick socks, then wear two or three of them at a time. Thereafter, wear your shoes and use a hairdryer to heat the elastic part of your shoes as you wear them.

Fix the hairdryer on medium heat and continue to blow it on an area for about 25 to 30 seconds. As you blow your shoes, bend your feet, or move your toes, so that there is maximum stretching of your shoes while heating.

Let your shoes cool down, remove the socks, and try on the shoes. You will definitely feel the difference.

Precaution:

Don’t bring the hairdryer too close to your shoes, since extreme heat can damage the shoe material. Be careful in case you follow this technique for patent shoes.

If you think the heat may harm your shoes, you can even use a damp cloth to first cover your shoes, and thereafter blow the hairdryer on them.

Since you are handling alcohol, make sure that you are not around the fire while performing this method.

Place as many balls you want depending on your desired shape and size of the shoes. The shoes will take the form of the newspaper balls.

Precaution:

Make sure that you don’t saturate the newspaper, since it may drip water and damage the insides of the shoes.

Wear them at home

This is an age-old method that has worked for almost everyone. Before starting to wear those shoes outside, wear shoes at home and walk around. Elastic shoes take time to break in, and doing so will loosen them up to your feet size.
